Indiana Conservation Officers after investigating after a hunter from Indianapolis was injured in a hunting accident at the Morgan-Monroe State Forest Wednesday.

Adam Squires, 26, and Ben Shows, 23, were squirrel hunting on a trail near Rosenbaum Road. Officers said Shows was attempting to fix his jammed gun when it caused the gun to fire.

Officers said the gunshot hit a large stone, causing two pieces of the bullet to ricochet back and hit Squires in the face. Squires was able to drive himself to a Greenwood hospital where he was treated and released.

Officers said Squires had taken a Hunter Education Class but Shows never did.
