DES MOINES, Iowa—
State officials say a northern Iowa man was shot in the left knee
while deer hunting in Chickasaw County.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says 25-year-old
Mitchell Kellogg, of Ionia (eye-OH'-nee-uh), was hit by a deer slug
fired by another hunter on Monday. The agency says Kellogg and the
other hunter both fired at two deer running between them. The slug
ricocheted off the ground, hitting Kellogg.
Kellogg was taken to a New Hampton hospital where he was being
treated for non-life threatening injuries.
