Severance — A hunter was accidently shot in the hip by another
hunter in a corn field near Severance Friday afternoon. The wounded
man was airlifted to North Colorado Medical Center and was
conscious, according to Weld County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman
Margie Martinez.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to the shooting just
after 4 p.m.
at Weld County roads 27 and 74, west of Woods Lake.
The two were hunting geese in the field when a shotgun got hooked
on a blind and was dislodged from the man’s hand and discharged as
it hit the ground, Martinez said.
Martinez said it did not appear that the wound was life
threatening.
