A 51-year-old Muscatine man was injured Friday from a
self-inflicted gunshot wound as he put away his gun after deer
hunting.
Steve Whitlow had just finished hunting northeast of Muscatine
and was putting his gun away when it discharged with his hand over
the barrel, sending a deer slug through his hand. The incident
occurred shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Whitlow was taken by ambulance to University Hospitals, Iowa
City, where he was being treated for what is believed to be a
non-life threatening injury.
