OLIN, Iowa -- Authorities said a man accidentally shot his son
during a hunting accident Wednesday.
Department of Natural Resources officials said Larry McCormick,
72, of Olin, was in the process of loading his .44 caliber black
powder pistol when the gun discharged hitting his son, Rodney
McCormick, 47, in the leg.
Rodney McCormick was flown by air ambulance to St. Luke’s
Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was being treated for what was
believed to be a non-life threatening injury.
The Iowa DNR was assisted at the scene by the Jones County
Sheriff’s Department.
