From KCCI.com

OLIN, Iowa -- Authorities said a man accidentally shot his son during a hunting accident Wednesday.

Department of Natural Resources officials said Larry McCormick, 72, of Olin, was in the process of loading his .44 caliber black powder pistol when the gun discharged hitting his son, Rodney McCormick, 47, in the leg.

Rodney McCormick was flown by air ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids where he was being treated for what was believed to be a non-life threatening injury.

The Iowa DNR was assisted at the scene by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
