KNOX COUNTY, Ill. —
UPDATE: The Department of Natural Resources has released new
information about a man killed in a hunting accident over the
weekend.
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Steve Hayworth, Jr.
of Washington, IL.
He was part of a three-person group that was hunting in the area
of 2345 Knox County Road 1750 North in Williamsfield.
One of the men had gone ahead of the group into the timber when a
gun was fired. Hayworth was shot.
The shooting was reported just after 3 p.m. Sunday, January 15,
2012.
The Knox County Coroner pronounced Mr. Hayworth dead at the
scene.
Another member of the group, a 59-year-old man from Tivoli,
Illinois, was taken to an area hospital for what police called “a
non-firearm related issue”.
