Family members reported Stephen Dempsey, 53, of Ashville, Ohio,
missing last Friday.
VINTON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Human remains have been found at
campsite where crews have been searching for a missing hunter in
Vinton County, Ohio.
Family members reported Stephen Dempsey, 53, of Ashville, Ohio,
missing last Friday.
The Vinton County Sheriff’s Office says Dempsey’s vehicle and
some personal items were found in a camper on hunting property off
of Old State Route 50 last week. It is the same area crews have been
searching this week.
Sheriff Shawn Justice says that during the search on Wednesday,
crews found the remains in the same area of the campsite.
Justice says a short time before they were found; a shotgun was
discovered partially submerged in water and debris in a creek next
to the campsite.
The remains have been sent to the Montgomery County Corner for
identification.
