A Fort Polk soldier was killed in an accidental shooting Saturday
while hunting in the Kisatchie National Forest, according to the
Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Louis Alamo, 30, an
active-duty soldier stationed at Fort Polk, died from a gunshot
wound while hunting in the forest adjacent to Kincaid Lake around
9:40 p.m.
Alamo and three Leesville residents were hunting
raccoons, officials said.
Alamo’s body was sent to Lafayette
for an autopsy.
