DES MOINES, Iowa -- Authorities say an Iowa man was injured while
hunting snow geese near Ruthven in northern Iowa.
The Iowa
Department of Natural Resources says 19-year-old Carl Jensen, of
Ruthven, suffered minor injuries on Thursday when the barrel of his
friend's 12-guage shotgun exploded, hitting him in the hand.
Jensen was treated and released from an Emmetsburg hospital.
Officials say Jensen was hunting with 19-year-old Ethan Bakken, also
of Ruthven. Bakken had taken a shot but a shell in his gun didn't
fire properly. Bakken reloaded and when he fired again, the barrel
exploded.
Authorities believe the barrel was blocked by the
misfiring of the first shell.
