Torrey, N.Y. — 16-year-old was accidentally shot
in the face by his younger brother while the boys were out turkey
hunting on Saturday morning in Yates County.
Caleb Fox, of
Sherman Street in Penn Yan, was out hunting with his 12-year-old
brother David Fox, at approximately 6 a.m. on farm land at 954 City
Hill Road in the Town of Torrey when the incident occurred,
according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
While they
were hunting, David Fox thought he saw a turkey walking through a
wooded area and fired. The moving object turned out to be his
brother, who was struck in the face and right shoulder by pellets.
Caleb Fox was treated at the scene by Penn Yan Ambulance, and
then flown to Rochester’s Strong Memorial Hospital for further
treatment.
The state Department of Environmental
Conservation also responded to the scene, and are investigating the
accident.
