A hunting accident north of Wallowa Saturday evening resulted in
the death of a North Plains man.
Michael Roy Rydquist, 62,
was hunting 25 miles north of Wallowa when his son, John Roy
Rydquist of Portland, accidentally shot and killed him.
According to Fred Steen, Wallowa County sheriff, Michael Rydquist
had crouched down and taken a shot at a deer while John Rydquist
took a shot at the animal. Unknown to the son, Michael Rydquist had
moved in front of him and could not be seen through his scoped
rifle.
