LA: Man dies after falling from deer stand in Union Parish

October 11, 2012

From TheNewsStar.com

A West Monroe man fell to his death while deer hunting in Union Parish late Wednesday afternoon.

Otis E. Davis Jr., 69, was getting down off his ladder stand about dark when the top strap broke, causing him to fall 20 feet.

Investigators said Davis, who was bow hunting on the Buckshot Hunting Club near Haile in the eastern part of the parish, had followed all safety precautions, but the ladder stand malfunctioned and apparently caused the fall.
