According to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland
Fisheries, a 50-year-old Fancy Gap man was fatally injured Tuesday
night in a hunting accident in Laurel Fork.
Sansford Ray
Semones, 50, was shot and killed with a muzzleloader by a juvenile
hunting companion Tuesday.
A preliminary investigation
determined that Semones’ teenage son shot him after mistaking him
for a deer from about 150 yards away.
“The shooter allegedly
mistook the victim for a deer and shot with a muzzleloader and it
was a fatal wound.”
