PARMA– Taras Martinuk was arrested for using a crossbow to shoot
and kill a deer in his backyard last month.
According to
police reports, Martinuk shot the doe with an arrow and a neighbor
later reported the deer dead in his backyard.
Police then
tracked the deer’s footprints, which led right to Martinuk’s home.
According to Parma city code, it is illegal to shoot firearms
or other weapons within city limits.
Wednesday, Martinuk was
arraigned in municipal court on charges of illegal hunting,
discharge of firearms, possession of loaded weapons, criminal
trespassing, and possession of criminal tools.
Martinuk
faces up to 9 months in jail and almost $2,000 in fines.
