AL: Man, possibly mistaken for hog, shot in groin in Coaling hunting accident

May 18, 2013

From BlogAL.com

COALING, Alabama -- A man was shot at a hunting camp on Clements Road early Saturday after a suspect hunting hogs possibly mistook the victim for an animal, according to the Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit.

The victim, a 26-year-old man, was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center with a single gunshot wound to the groin area and then went into surgery.

Police said the suspect, a 36-year-old man, had been out hunting hogs when he shot the victim. Investigators believe the suspect possibly thought he was shooting at an animal and not a person.
