LA: Tree-stand falls prompt call for caution

September 17, 2013

From HoumaToday.com

The Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department usually only rescues one hunter a year who's fallen from a tree stand, but it's rescued two within the last week and a half.

On Sept. 7, a hunter fell out of a tree stand in woods off of La. 307 near La. 182. He was unable to move but managed to call 911.

Another man fell out of a tree stand Thursday in a wooded area just off of Forty Arpent Road. He was able to call his wife, who knew exactly where he was and was able to lead Chackbay firefighters to his location.
