NC: Man killed Monday in hunting accident near Mollie

November 26, 2013

From Whiteville.com

A hunting accident claimed the life of 79-year-old Vernon Bryant Gurganus Monday afternoon near Mollie.

Another hunter found Gurganus on the ground with a single shotgun wound to the middle of his chest.

Gurganus apparently tried to remove a double barrel shotgun from behind the seat of the truck by grabbing the muzzle and pulling it toward him. The gun, loaded with buckshot, accidentally discharged.
