January 7, 2014
WESTPORT — The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office has
identified the three victims of a hunting accident in the Westport
River on Tuesday morning.
The two victims who died are
Steven James, 53, of Marshfield, and Robert Becher, 55, of Cromwell,
Conn. The surviving victim, Gregg Angell, 51, of Westport, was
hospitalized at Rhode Island Hospital Tuesday afternoon, being
treated for hypothermia.
After a resident reported a
capsized boat in the river, the harbormaster found the boat tangled
in a mooring.
Police went to the home of the vehicle’s
registered owner and confirmed its owner and two other men went duck
hunting on the river early Tuesday morning.
James and Becher
were found dead a short time later at the town’s Cherry and Webb
Beach. Angell was rescued by a U.S. Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter
