NJ: Officials: Hunter Shot By Teen During Deer Hunt

MAURICE RIVER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBS) Authorities say a hunter was shot by a teenager during a deer hunt on Thursday.

It happened on Route 49 near Estell Manor Road and Hunters Mill Road in Maurice River Township at the Peaslee Wildlife Management Area.

According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, a 54-year-old man from Millville was shot by a 16-year-old during a deer drive.

Officials say that during the drive, the teen fired two shots in the direction of the victim, striking him in the left thigh.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

Officials say a municipal summons is pending.
