Woman Shot In Hunting Accident

POSTED: 10:50 p.m. EST November 23, 2003

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. -- Volusia County investigators are looking into a hunting accident in which a woman was shot in the head.

The sheriff's office tells Channel Nine Betty Purdue was hunting with her husband in New Smyrna Beach. He fired a shot from his 12-gauge shotgun. One of the pellets ricocheted and grazed her head.

Emergency crews rushed her to the hospital by helicopter.

We're told her injuries are not life-threatening.
