One Hunting Fatality Reported in Grant County

Wisconsin Ag Connection - 11/24/2003

The annual gun-deer season got off to a deadly start in Grant County. According to officials, a 60-year-old hunter was killed on Sunday near Lancaster. The Department of Natural Resources was investigating the fatality, but did not release any information on the case as of last night.

Meanwhile, four other minor hunting incidents were reported over the season's opening weekend, one each in Adams, Crawford, Dunn and Vilas counties.

Last year, the DNR reported three fatalities during the entire nine-day deer season.
