Man Recovering from Weekend Hunting Accident

A man is still in the hospital after a hunting accident on the opening day of pheasant season.

The man was shot Saturday morning near to town of Deep River, about 20 miles east of Grinnell.

Poweshiek County Sheriff's Deputies say he was hit with five shotgun pellets, two to the head, two to the chest and one to the hand.

But his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Authorities are not releasing the man's name yet.

He remains hospitalized at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
