Authorities are investigating the death
of a 67 -year-old man who was found dead in a tree stand yesterday while
bow hunting in a wooded area off of Route 31 in Readington Township (NJ),
according to authorities.
The death of the Berkeley Heights man
does not appear to be suspicious and is believed to have been from natural
causes, said Hunterdon County First Assistant Prosecutor Steven Lember. An
autopsy scheduled today, he said.
The man's name was being withheld
pending the notification of his family, according to authorities. The man
apparently had been bow hunting yesterday with a companion, who found the
man unresponsive around 10 a.m., authorities said.
The companion, who wanted to remain
unidentified, drove a short distance on Route 31 from the wooded site to
the Hunterdon County Park System office and used a phone there to call
911, said Parks Director John Trontis. A park ranger returned to the
scene with the companion, he said.
An autopsy is scheduled today.
