Teen Killed while Preparing for Hunting Trip
29 December 2003
FLOYDADA--A teenager has been killed after a hunting rifle
accidentally discharged before a scheduled hunting trip.
It happened Sunday night in Hale County on County Road H
just west of Plainview.
Authorities say Cade Wayne Miller, 13, and two friends
were cleaning hunting rifles for a trip planned for Monday. Investigators
say one of the guns accidentally discharged, sending a bullet into the chest
of Miller.
The teenager died later at Covenant Hospital in Plainview.
Authorities are calling it a tragic accident.
