Brookhaven Woman Killed in Apparent Hunting Accident

Posted on Mon, Dec. 08, 2003

Associated Press

BROOKHAVEN, Miss. - A Lincoln County woman died this past weekend after she apparently accidentally shot herself while hunting, authorities said.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said Debbie Furr, 51, died Saturday in a wooded area near her home.

McMorris said the shooting is under investigation, but the signs point to a "hunting accident" in which Furr shot herself.

McMorris declined to say how the victim's gun might have accidentally discharged.

Furr's body was found Saturday afternoon by her husband, Bobby Furr, who went searching for his wife when he could not contact her, McMorris said.

An autopsy was performed Sunday.
