Safe Hunting?

NJ Hunter Injured

Posted Monday, December 8, 2003

Herald Staff Writer

"A Cliffside man remains hospitalized in serious condition at Morristown Memorial Hospital after he fell from a hunter's tree-stand on Thanksgiving.

"Marusic, 54, was hunting with a friend on Thanksgiving morning when he fell asleep in his 12-foot-high tree stand.

Hikers walking in the woods today should also wear a "blaze orange" cap or vest, said Larry Wheelock, trails director for the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference. Wheelock said he wears a cap and hikes during hunting season but he said hikers should not veer off the trail. (If hunting were so safe, why does everyone in the area need to wear blaze orange? - JM)
