Hunting Party Shoots Teenager

5 Hunters Injured Over Weekend

December 8, 2003

WARREN COUNTY, Iowa -- A Pleasantville teenager is recovering from a hunting accident Sunday.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources said a slug struck Aaron DeMoss, 15, in the chest Sunday afternoon as he was hunting with friends in eastern Warren County.

The DNR said a member of the hunting party accidentally shot DeMoss.

Four other hunting-related injuries happened over the weekend. None were fatal.

The DNR's Rod Slings said shooting at running deer continues to be a primary cause of hunting injuries.
