By: News 10 Now Staff

A hunting accident has left one man dead in the Cayuga County town of Throop.

Cayuga County Sheriff Rob Outhouse says 43-year old Jerry Sylvester was apparently shot by another member of his hunting party.

The man then called 911.

Rescue crews responded, but Sylvester was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff says they interviewed the man they believe to be the shooter, and an investigation is ongoing.
