Mistaken for bear, hunter killed

TOMPKINS, N.Y. -- A 54-year-old Saratoga man was shot dead Saturday when a fellow hunter mistook him for a bear, police said.

John Urban, 54, of Burnt Hills was wearing red and black hunting clothing when John Hoover, 40, of Windsor shot him, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Department.

Urban's body was taken to Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton for an autopsy.
