Blotter: Search continues for trapper missing on river
Authorities still are searching for an avid trapper who never returned
home Sunday after scouting areas along Red River.
Wildlife and Fisheries agents and Bossier and Caddo sheriff's deputies
have been looking for Larry Ardoin, 48, since his boat was found stuck on a
sandbar Monday morning.
The keys were in the ignition and the throttle was forward, Wildlife and
Fisheries Capt. Richie McCarthy said.
The search will resume this morning at Red River South Marina. "Now we're
switching to more of a recovery mode," McCarthy said.
He believes Ardoin, who typically does not wear a personal flotation
device, fell out of the boat while it was running.
Authorities are unsure whether he was heading upstream or downstream,
McCarthy said.
"Every day, our search is expanding because of current and time.".
