Kevin David Michalowski, 37, of Manawa, Wis., an
occasional outdoors writer for the American News, has been charged with over
limit of small game in Brown County. He was fined $88.
Michalowski said he shot what he thought was a redhead
duck but which a conservation officer later determined was a female pintail.
Michalowski already had one pintail in his possession.
Conservation officer Bill Antonides, who issued the
violation, said he believes it was an honest mistake. He said there was no
attempt to conceal the fact that Michalowski had the bird.
Antonides said Michalowski willingly paid his fine when he
found out it was a pintail.
