A Taylor County man who stopped wildlife officers wound up
giving the officers the shirt off his back and being told he could be facing
charges for hunting, drug and illegal gun possession.
At 11 a.m. Friday outside Jena, the man motioned Florida
Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officers Sam Dishman and Michael
Guy toward his truck to ask about getting his dogs out of a wildlife
management area, which was closed to deer hunting, Dishman said.
Dishman and Guy noticed a piece of meat on his shirt and a
spot of blood on his left hand.
Dishman and Guy began confiscating some deer hams, less
than 20 grams of marijuana, some drug paraphernalia and three guns - a
shotgun, a .308 rifle and a .22 pistol.
They also took as evidence the man's shirt, pants and
boots, allowing him to put on spare clothing he had in his truck.
The man was identified as Clifford McCall, 48, of Salem.
Reports said McCall was a convicted felon and was prohibited from having
firearms.
The State Attorney's Office will decide what charges to
pursue.
