State game and fish has slapped a Show Low couple with multiple
violations relating to the poaching of a trophy elk and a mule deer.
John Polzin was civilly assessed $16,000. In addition, the Game and
Fish Commission revoked Polzin's hunting, fishing and trapping
privileges for 10 years.
His wife, Shelly Polzin, is also banned from hunting, fishing and
trapping for five years.
The Polzins are also required to successfully complete an Arizona
hunter education course prior to having their license privileges
restored. The Polzins are the first violators of a new law allowing
Arizona Game and Fish to impose tougher penalties on repeat poachers and
those who hunt illegally.
