Police arrested two Eastern Oregon men today in the illegal killing of
an antelope near the Umatilla County town of Echo.
In custody were Jeffery Richard Schiller, 24, of Pilot Rock and Tyson
Palmateer, 28, of Echo, Oregon State Police said. They were being held
in the Umatilla County Jail in Pendleton on suspicion of killing an
antelope in a closed season, wasting wildlife and hunting from a motor
vehicle.
They were arrested after someone reported finding a dead antelope
south of Echo, said Trooper Dain Gardner. Authorities seized a rifle,
cartridge cases and rounds, he said.
