MOUNT AIRY - The Maryland Natural Resources Police arrested Dennis P.
Tressler, 44, of Mount Airy on illegal hunting charges, among others,
about noon Sunday.
Officers were called to the area of Bottom Road and Annapolis Road
after a resident heard shots being fired, police said. The resident was
able to get a description and tag number of Tressler's vehicle.
Officers stopped Tressler and found an 8-point antlered deer, one
loaded shotgun, one loaded rifle, one unloaded rifle and ammunition,
suspected cocaine and a smoking pipe, police said.
Tressler was charged with possession of cocaine and drug
paraphernalia, hunting wildlife on a Sunday, hunting deer with a firearm
during closed season, and two counts of possession of a loaded weapon in
a vehicle, police said.
He was taken to Frederick County Adult Detention Center and released
after going before a District Court Commissioner, authorities said.
Tressler has a court appearance scheduled for Feb. 13 in Frederick
County District Court.
Residents can anonymously report illegal hunting activities by
calling the Catch-a-Poacher 24-Hour Hotline at 1-800-635-6124.
