DOS PALOS, Calif.—Game wardens say five San Joaquin Valley residents
are under arrest for allegedly running a ring that led hunters onto
remote private lands to kill wild animals.
Warden Patrick Foy says four men and one woman were arrested Tuesday
on suspicion of felony conspiracy as part of an undercover operation to
expose the group based in Dos Palos.
The California Department of Fish and Game says ringleader Donald
Hennagan Jr. boasted of killing dozens of bears and mountain lions.
Hennagan was convicted in 2001 of running another "canned hunt"
operation through which he raised domesticated pigs to be killed.
