CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - State wildlife officials have cited more
than two dozen hunters for violations during West Virginia's spring
turkey season. Most of the 27 hunters were cited for baiting. State law
prohibits using bait to hunt or trap a turkey.
The Division of Natural Resources said Wednesday that other
violations included hunting out of season, shooting from a vehicle and
illegal possession of wildlife.
Citations were issued in 16 counties.
West Virginia's spring turkey season began April 28 and continues
through May 24 in all counties.
