NY: Many hunting/fishing/trapping violations

Several Northern New York people pay fines for violations of DEC laws SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2009

The Department of Environmental Conservation Region 6 reported the following fines and violations in Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence counties:

LEWIS COUNTY

■ Brian T. Eddy, 38, Massena, paid a $500 fine for shooting from a public highway and having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle Dec. 6 in the town of Diana. He appeared Jan. 15 in Town Court.

■ Bradley Ebersol, 18, Carthage, paid a $100 fine for failing to check traps every 48 hours March 4 in the town of New Bremen. He appeared April 22 in Town Court.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY

■ Kirby Taylor, 38, Nicholville, paid a $425 fine for violating penal law on state land and having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle Oct. 18 in the town of Hopkinton. He appeared Nov. 5 in Town Court.

■ James P. Storie, 32, Waddington, paid a $300 fine for failing to comply with a lawful order of a conservation officer, taking undersize fish and failing to release fish without undue harm Feb. 19 in the town of Rossie. He appeared May 6 in Town Court.

■ Christopher A. Bleau, 18, Ogdensburg, paid a $250 fine for shooting and taking wildlife from a public highway March 27 in the town of Macomb. He appeared May 14 in Town Court.

■ Matt T. Gardner, 18, Heuvelton, paid a $250 fine for shooting and taking wildlife from a public highway March 27 in the town of Macomb. He appeared May 14 in Town Court.

■ Todd L. Tyo, Heuvelton, paid a $150 fine for using an improper firearm while hunting during muzzleloading season Dec. 14 in the town of Macomb. He appeared April 6 in Town Court.

■ Aaron J. Lewis, 17, Harrisville, paid a $125 fine for trapping out of season, trapping a fisher without a required permit, setting a trap too high above the ground, suspending the wildlife, and failing to check traps every
24 hours March 6 in the town of Pitcairn. He appeared April 2 in Town Court.

■ Joel A. Pelo, 49, Cranberry Lake, paid a $125 fine for setting an unbaited, body-gripping trap measuring more than 6 inches on land and failing to check his traps every 48 hours Feb. 16 in the town of Clifton. He appeared May 5 in Town Court.

■ Scott W. Benson, 46, Ogdensburg, paid a $100 fine for possessing lead shot while duck hunting Nov. 3 in the town of Macomb. He appeared Feb. 24 in Town Court.

■ Marc L. Murdock, 37, Ogdensburg, paid a $100 fine for trapping within 5 feet of a muskrat house and setting traps within 15 feet of a beaver lodge Jan. 6 in the town of Lisbon. He appeared Feb. 17 in Town Court.

■ John A. Sheen, 52, Gouverneur, paid a $100 fine for failing to report taking a doe within 48 hours, having an untagged doe, failing to report taking a buck within 48 hours and failing to have a Deer Management Permit transfer number on his license Dec. 7 in the town of Gouverneur. He appeared April 16 in Town Court.

■ Ryan M. Kulp, 26, Gouverneur, paid a $75 fine for having unattended tip-ups while fishing Jan. 22 in the town of Macomb. He appeared March 8 in Town Court.

■ Michael A. LeVasseur, 49, Manchester, N.H., paid a $25 fine for failing to properly fill out a carcass tag and report card Oct. 14 in the town of Hopkinton. He appeared Nov. 5 in Town Court.

JEFFERSON COUNTY

■ Michael D. Flory, 45, Sandy Creek, paid a $600 fine for having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, discharging a firearm from a public highway and hunting after legal hours Dec. 13 in the town of Ellisburg. He appeared April 24 in Town Court.

■ Paul Woodard, Jr., 39, Lorraine, paid a $500 fine for unlawfully taking deer with antlers less than 3 inches long Dec. 2 in the town of Ellisburg.
He appeared Feb. 9 in Town Court.

■ Jessica S. White, 26, Sandy Creek, paid a $250 fine for fishing without a license April 16, 2008, in the town of Brownville. She appeared Jan. 27 in Town Court.

■ Cameron P. Hasner, 20, Three Mile Bay, paid a $225 fine for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling and hunting after legal hours Nov. 2 in the town of Brownville. He appeared Dec. 4 in Town Court.

■ Jarrod W. Cean, 21, Black River, paid a $160 fine for trespassing in a posted area and fishing without a license March 15 in the village of Glen Park. He appeared April 29 in Village Court.

■ Omar I. Clark, 25, Watertown, paid a $100 fine for fishing without a license and possessing a smallmouth bass during the closed season May 19, 2007, in the village of Dexter. He appeared April 29 in Village Court.

■ Richard Melfi, 37, Clayton, paid a $75 fine for having more than the allowed number of tip-ups while fishing Jan. 31 in the Town of Lyme. He appeared March 30 in Town Court.

■ Jacob T. Bresett, 17, Redwood, paid a $50 fine for having a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle Dec. 7 in the town of Theresa. He appeared May 5 in Town Court.

■ Andrew Brozzo, 30, Watertown, paid a $50 fine for fishing without a license Feb. 15 in the town of Hounsfield. He appeared April 21 in Town Court.

■ Frank Coon, 43, Plattsburgh, paid a $50 fine for attempting to take fish by snatching Oct. 19 in the village of Dexter. He appeared April 30 in Village Court.

■ Jeffrey L. Potter Jr., 21, Watertown, paid a $50 fine for fishing without a license March 17 in the town of Hounsfield. He appeared May 4 in Town Court.

■ Chris G. Ackerman, 19, Lacona, paid a $25 fine for possessing walleye out of season April 16 in the village of Dexter. He appeared May 14 in Town Court.

■ Daniel J. Yanklowski, 26, Sackets Harbor, paid a $25 fine for fishing without a license March 22 in the town of Hounsfield. He appeared April 9 in Town Court.
