NM: 11 arrested on hunting violations
November 23, 2009
Roosevelt County Sheriff’s deputies working with New Mexico Game and Fish
Department officers arrested 11 people, most for hunting violations, over
the weekend, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Saturday, the agencies conducted a “deer decoy operation” in the county.
During the effort, the release said, 47-year-old Ramon Sena was arrested
on a fourth-degree felony when officers found in his possession a firearm
stolen in a burglary in Clovis.
Officers also arrested eight people for shooting at the decoy from the
road and from vehicles, according to the release.
Game and Fish representatives also seized the carcasses for two mule deer
bucks killed illegally on private land, the release said.
On Sunday, deputies and Game and Fish officers conducted a road block in
Dora to check for Game and Fish violations. Only one such violation was
found, but deputies arrested one person for DWI and another for violating
his conditions of release from jail.
