Wyoming probes falsified hunting licenses
CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has issued 120
citations to people who claimed dual residence in Wyoming and another state
for the purpose of getting resident hunting or fishing licenses.
The department says it conducted an investigation into falsified
residencies in conjunction with wildlife investigators from Utah, Colorado
and Idaho.
Investigators cross-checked resident licenses purchased in 2005 and 2006
with those in the other three states.
The department says the 120 citations resulted in fines of more than
$36,000.
Statutes in Wyoming, Utah, Colorado and Idaho limit hunters and anglers
to claiming residency in only one state for purposes of acquiring a resident
license.
