May 21, 2010
Illegal black bear station taken down
Alaska Wildlife Troopers charged a Wasilla man for illegally setting up a
black bear bait station within a mile of two Trapper Creek cabins. Allen
Nichols was charged with violating the conditions of his trapping permit
because it was in close proximity of the cabins.
Wildlife trooper Dan Valentine said the station was located on a trail
west of the Parks Highway around milepost 111. The station was taken down
and Nichols was charged with violating the conditions of his black bear
permit. He was issued a summons to appear in court.
