Hunter Arrested On Multiple Charges
Allen Akers, 75, is charged with Reckless Endangerment in the Second
Degree for shooting too close to another hunter.
Troopers say Akers was traveling on McKeel Road in the Town of Ulysses.
He got out of his vehicle and fired a .270 rifle, wounding a deer.
Akers was about 30 yards away from another hunter when he shot the deer.
He is set to appear in the Town of Ulysses Court on December 14th.
Troopers also charged Akers with Trespass on Posted Property, Possession
of a Rifle in a Shotgun Area Only, Taking Wildlife with the Aid of a Motor
Vehicle, and Hunting a Doe Outside of Deer Management Unit Permit under the
Environmental Conservation Law, by the New York State Department of
Conservation.
