Illegal Hunter Feeds the Hungry DeerMaster in Rossville donates services
December 20, 2010
A deer hunter accused of wrongdoing "donated" a deer to the "Hunters For
the Hungry" program Monday.
Hamilton County Wildlife Officer Nick Luper said he got a tip of a man
trespassing illegally on property in the Harrison area Monday morning. The
tipster said he saw the man shoot and kill a doe.
When Luper got there he said the man was surprisingly cooperative, even
admitting that he had been warned to stay off the property.
Luper said he cited the man for "No Hunter Orange" and "Hunting Without
Permission." He also held the man's deer stand and rifle for evidence... and
seized the deer.
Luper said he contacted Deermaster, a processor in Rossville, Ga. that
participates in Tennessee's "Hunters For the Hungry" program. Deermaster
agreed to process the deer at no charge to donate to the needy.
Of course all deer hunters are encouraged to participate in Hunters For
the Hungry. You can contact Deermaster at 1115 McFarland Ave., Rossville,
Ga. 30741 or call (423) 883-0028.
