4 charged with hunting violations in Maine
Jan 25, 2011
AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The Maine Warden Service has brought charges
against four men following a four-month investigation into illegal hunting
in Maine and Pennsylvania.
Officials said Tuesday they uncovered more than 100 violations in Maine
following reports of two men exceeding the kill limit for deer last summer.
Eventually, the investigation expanded to Pennsylvania, where hundreds more
violations were alleged in October and December in Armenia Township.
Wardens identified the four as 31-year-old Everett Tyler Leonard,
19-year-old Carlton "John" Enos, 59-year-old E.H. "Lenny" Leonard and
27-year-old Jason Clifford, all of Turner.
There was no indication whether they'd retained lawyers at the jail,
where two of them were briefly detained. Officials say the four eventually
will face charges in Pennsylvania, as well.
