Man convicted of killing dog on Troutdale farm
January 28, 2011
TROUTDALE, Ore. – A local farmer has been found guilty of animal abuse
for trapping, shooting and killing a neighbor’s dog.
David Shonk was sentenced to 12 months probation and 100 hours of
community service.
Shonk’s lawyer had argued that he was within his rights to protect the
chickens on his farm in Troutdale. But the judge said the dog was not
chasing chickens when it was shot, so that argument did not stand.
