Illegal hunter sent to prison

MADISON - A Rusk County man with a lengthy history of disregarding hunting laws was sentenced Friday in federal court to six months in prison and placed on supervised release for a year.

"No one starts in federal court; it happens to serial violators," Magistrate Judge Stephen Crocker told Richard A. Kochevar, 49, of Sheldon. "Mr. Kochevar has been grinding away at the bottom edge of the legal system since 1979.".
