A Timber Lake man has been sentenced for illegally killing hawks to
protect pheasants for hunting.
U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson said 60-year-old Barry Hutchinson was
put on unsupervised probation for a year, fined $1,500 and ordered to
pay $1,500 in restitution.
Authorities said that between May 2006 and May 2008, Hutchinson shot
and killed hawks around a pheasant hunting preserve in Dewey County.
Hutchinson pleaded guilty this week to a charge of unlawfully taking
migratory birds.
