MARSEILLES — Four men were charged with goose hunting in a closed
season and other violations at 10:10 a.m. Sunday on Ballard’s Island,
Illinois River near Marseilles, according to Illinois Conservation
Police.
Justin R. Powell, 27, of Marseilles was charged with possession of
less than 2.5 grams of cannabis and attempting to shoot geese during a
closed season.
Justin M. Mann, 27, of Marseilles was charged with possession of a
freshly-killed goose during the closed season, unlawful taking of
waterfowl during the closed season and use of toxic lead shot while
hunting waterfowl.
Michael P. Austino, 30, of Seneca and Shawn M. Rademacher, 29, of
Morris were charged with attempting to shoot geese during a closed
season and uncased firearm in a boat, according to the report.
On Nov. 1, Powell was charged with failure to check in a deer by 10
a.m. on the day of hunt, according to a separate report.
* On Oct. 31, Bradley A. Eade, 30, of Somonauk was charged with
dumping a deer carcass on public property on N 4325th Road, two miles
north of Sheridan, according to Illinois Conservation Police.
