The owners of the Claremore Animal Sanctuary told FOX23, they don't
believe this was an accident.
Annette Tucker’s heart is at the wild heart ranch. However, it's been
wounded since a fawn was gunned down on her property.
It was shot three times in the heart and twice in the rear. "When I
saw the fawn and turned her over and I realized she was full of bullet
holes. I was so angry. It was overwhelming."
Tucker has taken in 30 fawns this year, that is the most she has ever
adopted in 16 years.
The useless killing is even attracting national attention.
"Somebody went over and physically hopped into the property and shot
this animal not once, not two or three times but five times. That's not
an accident,” said Ned Bruha, the Vice President of Skunk Whisperer.
The show appears on Animal Planet. Tucker believes her appearance on
that show is one of the reasons she was targeted.
"We're trying to teach consumers that there's ways to deal with
wildlife without trapping, killing and maiming them,” said Tucker. “I’m
sure a lot of people who profit off the death and trapping of wild
animals are pretty upset with me now."
The ranch is facing a problem where they have to install cameras now
just to keep the animals safe.
Tucker said they need the community's help to install the computer
software and cameras.
