Victim Assaulted While Hunting On Private Property Last Week
DREXEL, Mo. -- A 41-year-old deer hunter who said he was stabbed by
another hunter last week is telling detectives what happened and what
his attacker looked like.
Brent Scott was attacked on farmland near Drexel, Mo., in Cass County
early Friday.
Corp. Kevin Tieman of the Cass County Sheriff's Office said the
situation didn't start out strange.
"It's not unusual for hunters to come across each other in the woods
when hunting in a situation like this," Tieman said.
He said the violent turn of the encounter that Scott had on Friday is
unusual. Scott declined a request to speak with KMBC 9 News, but he gave
a description to detectives that they plan to have an artist use to
create a composite sketch in the next few days.
Tieman said he hopes that the sketch will jog some memories.
"Drexel's a fairly rural area here in Cass County," he said.
"Hopefully someone in that area may have seen something and may know who
this person is."
Detectives said Scott described the attacker as white, 5 feet 9
inches tall, 250 pounds with a stocky build and shaggy brown hair. The
attacker is believed to be about 30 years old, detectives said.
Investigators said Scott had permission to hunt on the private land.
They said they want to find out if the attacker was also there with
permission.
